STEPHEN MINISTRY

"Christ Caring For People Through People"

Stephen Ministry is about providing confidential, one-to-one Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. As Stephen Ministers, we offer comfort—allowing you to express feelings confidentially and without judgment, which is valuable for members who need an outlet to communicate their concerns, fears, or grief. Our objective is to bring you to a point of greater peace and joy. Please use our confidential email address to schedule an appointment (bozzo.stephen@gmail.com). Or you can call our church office (772-286-9958) to arrange a return call.

GriefShare Support Program

The GriefShare support program features biblical, Christ-centered teaching focusing on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. We use the GriefShare DVD seminar series presented by nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people. Past participants have related how helpful the information and discussions were to them. Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family returned to their daily life routines. Too often people, including Christians, tend to hide their grief instead of allowing it to do the God-given work for which it is intended. Don’t allow fear of what others may think to keep you from taking advantage of what could help you.

Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. This grief support program offers encouragement, comfort, and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. There is a process in recognizing the symptoms of being stuck in grief, and how to work through the bondage you may experience with certain emotions. This learning and sharing experience will deliver valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.

The PCPC GriefShare group will start a new 13-week session beginning May 3. The projected end date is August 2. The status of meetings that fall on Memorial Day and July 4th will be determined by the group. They will continue to meet in the office conference room.

PCPC Stephen Ministers facilitate the group meetings. Registration is not required but preferred. To register, please call the church office at 772-286-9958. There is a one-time cost of $20.00 for a GriefShare program workbook. Childcare is not available. For additional information, please email Florine Blackshear at f.dian.b@gmail.com or call the church office and leave a message for her to return your call.
