PreK 3–6th Grade

Growing children to know Christ, love His Word, and join His mission.

Children grow best when they are known, loved, and encouraged by caring adults who point them to Jesus. That's why Abide Kids is more than a Sunday program—it's a place where children discover God's love, build lasting friendships, learn His Word, and begin living out their faith every day. Partnering with parents, we help children grow into faithful followers of Jesus through biblical teaching, worship, prayer, hands-on learning, and authentic Christian community.

  • We believe children grow best when they are:

    ❤️ Known
Every child is welcomed by name and cared for by consistent leaders who build meaningful relationships.

    📖 Grounded
Every lesson points children to Jesus and helps them understand God's story from Genesis to Revelation.

    🤝 Connected
Children grow alongside friends, caring adults, and a church family that encourages them in their faith.

    🌱 Growing
Through worship, Bible literacy, prayer, and service, children develop habits that help them follow Jesus every day.

    🏡 Partnered
We work alongside parents because discipleship begins at home and flourishes within the family of God.

    NEXT LEVEL

4th–6th Grade: Preteens begin taking ownership of their faith through deeper Bible study, discussion, service opportunities, and leadership development as they prepare for Rooted Youth.

  • On Sunday mornings, we gather to worship and discover God's truth.

    9:30–10:45 a.m.

Sunday mornings are designed to help children experience the joy of belonging to God's family through biblical teaching and community.

    Children participate in:

    • Large group Bible teaching
    • Games and hands-on activities
    • Prayer
    • Caring relationships with trusted leaders

Every lesson points children to the person and work of Jesus Christ while helping them understand how God's story shapes their own.

  • To give families the flexibility to worship in either the traditional or contemporary service while their children participate in an age-appropriate program, Children’s Church is now offered during our 8:20 traditional service. Midway through the early service, children wanting to attend will be escorted to Langill Hall for engaging worship, activities, and Bible skills. Our Adult Sunday school and Abide Kids program follow at 9:30 during the contemporary worship service.

  • Wednesday evening gatherings build on Sunday mornings by helping kids grow in their understanding of God's Word. Rather than simply learning Bible stories, children develop the confidence to engage Scripture for themselves through Bible literacy, Scripture memory, interactive learning, small-group discussion, prayer, and practical application. As they grow, children progress through four Bible literacy milestones:

    • Explore God's story.
    • Understand and learn how to read God's Word.
    • Apply the Bible to their lives.
    • Share God's Word with others.

Our desire is that every child develops a lifelong love for God's Word and the confidence to read it faithfully, live it joyfully, and share it boldly as they participate in God's mission.

  • Family Worship Days create space for all generations to worship side by side, reminding us that children are not just the future of the church—they are the church now. On these Sundays, Abide Kids, our Sunday school program, will pause so families can worship together. Nursery care will still be available for children ages three and under.

  • What ages can attend Abide Kids?

Abide Kids is for children in PreK 3 through 6th grade, with age-appropriate classes designed for each stage of development.

Does my child need to have attended church before?

Not at all! Whether your child is hearing Bible stories for the first time or has grown up in a Christian home, they will be welcomed, loved, and encouraged.

What if my child is nervous?

Our leaders understand that visiting somewhere new can feel overwhelming. We'll help your child get settled, introduce them to their leaders and classmates, and do everything we can to help them feel comfortable.

Will my child stay with the same leaders?

We strive to provide consistent leaders so children can build trusted relationships over time.

    What should my child bring?

Just themselves! We provide everything your child needs for a great morning, including allergen-friendly snacks when they are offered. If your child has dietary restrictions, you're welcome to send a snack from home. To help keep all of our children safe, we ask that no food containing nuts be brought into our children's ministry areas.

How do check-in and pickup work?

We'll help make your first visit easy! A member of our Next Generation team will greet your family, answer any questions, and assist you with check-in. Our secure check-in system provides matching name tags for both parents and children to ensure safe pickup. At the end of the morning, children remain with their leaders until a parent or authorized guardian arrives.

What if my child has allergies or medical needs?

We want every child to participate safely and confidently. Please let us know about any allergies, medications, or medical needs during registration so we can care for your child well. Our Next Generation team is trained in first aid and follows established safety procedures to help provide a safe and welcoming environment for every child.

GET INVOLVED

We believe parents are the primary spiritual influence in a child's life. Our role is to encourage, equip, and partner with families by providing biblical teaching, trusted relationships, and practical resources that continue faith conversations beyond Sunday morning. Discipleship works best when the home and the larger body of Christ are growing together.

RESOURCES

  • Kingdom Kids Curriculum on Sundays

Let's experience the good news together! GO! curriculum emphasizes interactive story telling. We cover the whole Bible in a year by spending each fall in the Old Testament, spring on Jesus, and summer is split between the early church and the poetry books of the Bible. Our lessons incorporate a variety of different learning styles with activities, all while staying gospel centered.
