Blaise Pascal: Logic on Fire

"Why We Hide from Ourselves"

Isaiah 55:1-9 (ESV)

Rev. Dr. David C. Mauldin

February begins with a short series about Blaise Pascal. Every year, Pastor David likes to preach a historical series, using the life and teachings of a famous figure from church history to illustrate the truths of God’s Word. Blaise Pascal was a 17th-century French mathematician, inventor, and theologian. He felt a special burden to share the gospel with people in his social circles who were educated and cultured, but they saw Christianity as mere folktales and superstition. Pascal combined a brilliant logical mind with passionate religious devotion. He rejected the “god of the philosophers” in favor of the “God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
