Run the Race!
Growing in faith is not something that happens by merely cramming more information about the Bible into our brains. All of our Bible knowledge means nothing if we don’t experience what that knowledge can do to our hearts. To fully experience faith, we need to practice our faith. And that takes commitment. We will learn how to grow in our faith through the practice of worship, the practice of hearing from God, the practice of praying, and the practice of sharing. We will spend the month practicing what matters most.
God keeps all of His promises and puts His plans into action. This month we will learn how to put our faith into action. We kick off May with something Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NIrV): So run in a way that will get you the prize. All who take part in the games train hard.
Paul used running in a race as a way to talk about our relationship with God. A growing relationship with God isn’t something that happens overnight; we need to practice it. The verse sets up the rest of the month for how we can practice our faith.
Monthly Memory Verse: "Training the body has some value, but being Godly has value every way. It promises help for the life you are now living and the life to come." 1 Timothy 4:8 (NIRV)
Monthly Life App: Commitment - making a plan and putting it into practice
Bottom Line: Practicing what matters most.
